Dieting: Make Sure the Time Is Right

January is a great time for starting over - for setting goals (or resolutions) and often they involve our weight. But before saying to yourself that you are going on that diet, ask yourself if you are really in the right frame of mind to diet.

Often we see January 1st as the perpetual diet date. We diet whether we want to or not. But before rushing into a diet, consider the following:
* Are you ready for this? What is your life like? Are you going through a transition? Can you be really focused on this at this particular time in your life?

* What is your motivation? Are you really unhappy with your weight? Is this something that you really want to do? If not, you won’t put in the maximum effort and you will end up discouraged.

Just because it is January doesn’t mean that you have to start a diet.  Make sure the time is right for you.

Thanks for that insight. I guess I was geared up to diet and feeling guilty about it! I appreciate having a choice.
    Blessings to you,
